Iran on the Web

You may find on the Internet many very interesting websites about Iran. Here is just a small personal selection among those available in English.

-Informations, current events:

You may refer to the website of the private and independant press organization Iran Press Service which presents many contents articles on political and social themes. This website also includes some interesting forums.

For information on a regular basis, many daily and weekly newspapers have a website which are both practical and free. Among these websites, keep in mind this of the daily newspapers Iran Daily , thanks to which you may have access to the integrality of the newspapers released that same day and to those of preceding days. Finally, on the independant Weekly Bulletin of the Nedu portal you will be able to find articles on political, social and economic subjects.

- Official websites:

The website which was recommended to us in the first place by Iranian students was that of President Khatami. It is indeed very interesting, even for someone who is not Iranian, and you may listen to some speeches from the President, unfortunately most often in farsi.

For those who would like to travel in Iran, the Official Iranian Touristic Website offers the essential administrative informations.

Finally, have a glance at the website of the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the United Nations if diplomatic and international relations issues interest you.

-Portals:

Iran Net and Iran On Line are two Iranian Internet portals which offer search engines specialized in websites with relation to Iran, on top of the usual services offered by portals. Iran On Line claims to give you access to the most important Iranian community on the Web.

-Democracy in Iran:

Many quality websites can be found on the subject. The website of the Foundation for Democracy in Iran remains rather moderate in its criticism, if opposed, for example, to the website of the Comity for Coordination of the Student Movement for Democracy in Iran, or Daneshjoo. Democracy Network in Iran offers you reports on the state of democracy in Iran and militates, among other things, for a greater liberty of press.

Finally, for a little culture, a little history and some pictures, there are very numerous personal websites that are quite sympathetic. You may, for example, go on http//oznet.net/iran, excellent when it comes to the history and the culture of the country, unfortunately the many pictures are not of very good quality.
